The client was planning to set up a new manufacturing facility in the Delhi-NCR region and was evaluating different sites based on various criteria, such as accessibility, availability of resources, and environmental impact.
• LULC mapping was to be carried out to identify suitable sites for the proposed facility.
• Complexity and variability of land use and land cover patterns
The Solution
We used satellite imagery with a spatial resolution of 10 meters and classified the land into different categories, such as agricultural land, forest land, urban areas, and water bodies. The LULC maps provided valuable insights into the land use patterns of different areas. For instance, some areas had a significant proportion of agricultural land, while others had a higher proportion of forest cover. We also identified areas with high levels of urbanization and industrialization that were unsuitable for the proposed facility due to environmental concerns. After analysing the LULC maps, we shortlisted a few sites that met the criteria set by the corporation. The selected sites had a low environmental impact, were easily accessible, and had sufficient resources for the proposed manufacturing facility
The Impact we created
The LULC maps provided valuable insights into the land use patterns and helped in identifying the suitable sites for the proposed facilities while minimizing the environmental impact.
• The client was able to shortlist a few sites that met the criteria set by them.
• Fine-scale mapping was conducted for detailed analysis to maintain accuracy.
